Introduction
The purpose of this lesson is to stimulate thinking and ways of relating pastoral narrative work to the broader idea of doing hope rather than only doing therapy. As such it works towards reflecting on the scope of practice of pastoral narrative practitioners, not just pastoral narrative therapists.
Scope of practice is discussed by introducing the notion of the ‘funky door’ which will later become part of the lesson on metaphors with a related assignment. Reflecting on the door through which different helping professions enter and work with certain topics helps pastoral narrative practitioners develop agency around the meaning of the door they enter through when working with people.
